An Atlanta native, Dr. Nancy Woodruff attended Pace Academy and Northside High School. Nancy went to Sophie Newcomb College from 1968 -1970, and received her BA degree from Boston University in 1972. Dr. Nancy attended Georgia State University, receiving a Master's degree in 1975, and a PhD in 1979 with a GPA of 4.0. Her doctoral dissertation is titled, Marital Expectations of Satisfied and Dissatisfied Couples.
Nancy Woodruff, PhD is licensed as an Applied Psychologist with the state of Georgia since 1982, and has worked in private practice since then. Nancy is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Division of Psychotherapy. She is a fellow of the Georgia Psychological Association and a member of the Division of Licensed Psychologists. Nancy is active in the association and has served on many committees, including the Professional Standards Committee and the Ethics Committee.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Nancy has worked in a number of diverse treatment settings. In-patient hospital experience includes Georgia Mental Health Institute, Georgia Regional Hospital and Boston State Hospital. Within these hospitals, Nancy has worked on an alcohol and drug unit, a brief-stay crisis unit and a long-term chronic unit.
Out-patient experience includes working for a community mental health
center, the Department of Family and Children Services and the Georgia
State University Counseling Center. From these varied experiences,
Nancy is able to provide short-term, solution-focused counseling as
well as long-term dynamic psychotherapy. Nancy draws from all of her
training, education and experience to provide efficient and effective
treatments that are flexible and tailored to your specific needs.
